Kinesiology
Kinesiology is a complementary therapy that uses reflex muscle testing to bypass the conscious mind and communicate directly with the body. The concept behind this is simple: everything we have ever been through, our body has been through with us. Every past experience, trauma and emotion has been felt in the body. If we do not process these experiences properly, they can become stuck in the body. These stored emotions may begin to manifest in different ways, such as physical or mental ailments and dis-ease.
In a Kinesiology session, muscle testing allows us to communicate with the body’s memory. We locate where stress is being held, identify the cause, and ask the body what it needs to help shift the energy and bring your body and being back into balance. We work with you holistically, meaning we work with your physical body, your mental health, your emotions and your energy or spirit to empower you to understand the workings of your unique being.
Who can benefit from Kinesiology?
Kinesiology is suitable for all ages; in utero, children and adults.
The specific Kinesiology we practise is based on the emotional and energetic imbalances in the body. Kinesiology can be helpful with all personal challenges as well as personal growth. Some themes people seek Kinesiology for are mental health support, big life changes, trauma support, self-esteem issues, spiritual development, feeling out of balance, nervous system support and overall wellbeing.
What can you expect from your Kinesiology appointment?
During your session
A typical session will begin with a thorough chat about yourself, what brings you in and what you would like to get out of the session. Then we will get you up on the table and start the balance.
Using muscle testing the Kinesiologist will pick up any stresses and imbalances that need to be worked through. You will be talking with the Kinesiologist through the whole session. Depending on the content of the session, the practitioner may use acupressure, talk therapy, meditation, essential oils, sound, flower essences and other energetic practices to help you move through whatever you are working on in the session, support the release of blocks and deepen your integration.
After the session
Each person will respond differently to the session. You may feel lighter or you may feel heavy and tired; both are completely normal and should subside after 2–3 days. The practitioner will muscle test on your body to see if you will need a next balance and when that will be, usually between 1–3 months. The time between your sessions will be for integrating. You may receive homework or home reinforcements to support you with the integration of the session.
