Natural Allergy Treatment
Positive Association Technique (PAT)

What is PAT?

Positive Association Technique (PAT) is an easy, non-invasive method of helping clients relieve symptoms associated with allergies and intolerances by using positive conditioning to retrain the body.

Utilising a combination of naturopathy, kinesiology and acupuncture principles to address food, airborne or chemical intolerances, PAT has been performed in Australia since 2003, bringing relief to over 25,000 people.

What conditions do PAT Practitioners commonly see?

  • Hay fever symptoms such as sneezing, runny nose and congestion

  • IBS symptoms including bloating, constipation, diarrhoea and reflux

  • Itchy, red and inflamed skin like eczema or hives

  • Headaches and migraines

  • Asthma

  • Brain fog and fatigue

What to expect during a treatment

A PAT session begins with a brief naturopathic chat about your allergic symptoms and how they are affecting you.

We then move onto some muscle testing, a technique used in kinesiology to gently expose the body to a very mild version of the substance and monitor its response. We test a range of common food, chemical and airborne substances.

The third part of the session is the treatment itself. A two-pronged chiropractic massage tool is used to gently stimulate points on either side of the spine. These are major acupuncture points and also a major nerve communication pathway. This helps retrain the body to accept the substance rather than react to it.

What to expect after a treatment

Once the treatment is complete, the substance treated should be actively avoided for two hours, then only limited exposure in the 24 hours following treatment. This is a precaution to avoid challenging the system too soon after treatment, allowing the body time to integrate the change.

Typically each substance group requires one treatment so the number of treatments is dependent on how many different triggers are affecting each individual.
