Reiki

reiki healing therapy.jpg

Reiki is broken into two Japanese words – Rei, meaning ‘Spirit’ and Ki, meaning ‘Life Force, Energy’. A complementary therapy that can be safely used alongside all other medical and therapeutic practices. Regarded as a gentle non-invasive, non-manipulative technique involving lightly laying of hands just above clothed body. The reiki practitioner is a facilitator to guide ones’ self-healing.

Benefits

Having profound relaxation effects, Reiki has been known to alleviate stress, anxiety, and perceptions of pain, and to increase feelings of psychospiritual euphoria. Especially beneficial for those suffering with high blood pressure, chronic health conditions, mood disorders, and for improving self-esteem and general quality of life.

What to expect

During the session

The session begins with a few simple questions to ascertain your goals and needs. You will lay on the massage table with an eye pillow on and a blanket over your body. If you are new to reiki or feeling anxious, some breathing techniques may be implemented to relax you into the session.

The treatment involves the practitioner’s hands just above the body (as pictured), working on the energetic field. Light touches over the head, face and body may be present throughout the healing.

After the session

Each person will respond differently, there is no right or wrong way to feel afterwards. Common feelings that you may experience are a sense of wanting to be alone, urgency to use the bathroom, feelings of letting go or internal shifts, or processing past trauma of all kinds.
The most common sensation is peace and calmness of mind and body.
